in theory yes, but in music it’s a really big difference! Especially if you put power chords. Chord progression is what it makes song special, unike etc.

In self esteem 4 example, main chord progression is: A,F,C,G
But on bridge it goes: D, Bb, F, C, and when those put thogether, they sound completly different!

  8. PonyInTheDark says:

    a, F, C, G is the same as C, G, a, F… you just start halfway in=P

  9. WeDealxoxCamisado says:

It’s derived from Pachelbels Canon. But this chord progression has been overused since………..who knows

O_O I complain about those four chords so much!! I’d like to add Love Story by Taylor Swift, Steer by Missy Higgins, The Archers Bows have Broken by Brand New, Have to Drive by Amanda Palmer, World Coming Down by Ashbury Heights…. every friggin artist has at least one, I swear o_O

  10. cwrath521 says:

Ya Blinks is C G A F lol they are just makin a point that 4 chords make most songs lol

  11. jorgepaci says:

dude… can someone tell me who was actually the first to had the idea of using this chords in this order? who wrote the first song using them like this? cause its just the biggest hit of everyone who use them

  12. SubicBayMantaRay says:

it’s the same progression just in a different key

  13. CommonSeb says:

make it easy… C G Am F and use the capo to get the prefered key

  14. RockinRobin411 says:

If you took every song that used the chord progression, it would take a lot more than an hour, even it was just a few seconds per song.

  15. offsrx says:

    Self esteem is wrong!
Chords for Self esteem are :
    A, F, C G!!
Listen to a song THEN critisize it..

Wow, not only have you proven how fickle the music industry can sometimes be, you also have proven your own talent. Truly gorgeous voices in sections. :)

do they update it, or just keep making the song larger? because in like 4 years, it will be like an hour long haha

  22. RoboSparkle says:

    Thanks for posting this.
I try to tell my friends and other ppl about progressions, and how the most popular songs follow the same progression. They didn`t believe me/ didn’t care to hear it.
I was thinking of doing this… but honestly… I was too lazy.
    Thanks again.
